Welcome

The Yuppies and the Bubbas are going to have it out again.... Back in olden times...

The Pecan Commons Energy Challenge
Two neighborhoods. 30 days. A life lived well..and efficiently.

Texans use significantly more electricity per person than the US national average.  While oil powers our cars, electricity powers everything else.  Air conditioning, lighting, refrigerators, dishwashers... you name it.

But we're living in a time when energy means more than flipping a switch.  Energy use has implications on our air and water quality, our health, our economy, and our quality of life.

The Question
How do we lessen the impact our energy use has on our environment and our lives?

One way is to use our energy in the most efficient way possible so we use less of it.

The Energy Challenge
For 30 days in the summer of 2010, two Central Texas neighborhoods will compete on being as energy efficient as possible.  With the help of efficiency experts, they will enhance their lifestyles to take take energy use into consideration in their day to day living.

We'll follow the teams on YouTube.

Not deprivation.  Smarter use.

Audition
Auditions will be held for competing neighborhoods.  There will also be auditions for the energy efficiency experts that will coach the teams.
